joey + douglas || dreams come true

Usually when we meet couples, you can tell they love each other (obviously). They have all these cute couple idiosyncrasies and tend to poke fun at each other (Maclean and I are definitely included in this category just FYI – we’re VERY cute – just kidding – we make fun of each other…) But Joey and Douglas were completely different. They were like fairy tale in love – they held hands/arms around each other the entire meeting and were always looking at each other - it was SO cute! These are two of the sweetest most genuine people I’ve met.

They both live in Hong Kong but Douglas was raised in BC and spent a long time working at Brockhouse – which just happens to be where they got married! Coincidence? Not even slightly. Douglas dreamed to one day get married at Brockhouse with the beautiful BC sunset over the ocean. And did his dream ever come true – it was (one of the few) amazing, perfect Vancouver days with no clouds, no rain and a perfect sunset.

I’ve always wanted to film a wedding at Brockhouse as my parents were married there 28 years ago. I can see why they chose it then and why Joey and Douglas chose it now. This day was gorgeous and so much fun. Congratulations Joey and Douglas!

marisa + anson || speechless

Dr. and Mrs. (almost Dr.) got married on a beautiful day at Swan-E-Set. Such a sunny day. Not a cloud in the sky. One of the most beautiful days in BC history! Also - the hottest. day. ever. Marisa and Anson were one of the lucky few couples to get one of those sunny Vancouver days that make the 10 months of rain all worth it. But an extreme version. Man oh MAN it was hot! Keep that in mind as you watch Anson play some of the most funny, creative, yet physically demanding Chinese door games I’ve ever seen. This man was a champion. He fought HARD to be able to see his bride! And it was all worth it. Marisa looked amazing.

These two just make sense together. They’re clearly in love, super sweet, and really funny. ( this discovered when we received their questionnaire back and they included ‘gregorian chants’ in their ‘favorite music’ category haha!)

Congratulations Marisa and Anson!

We had an awesome time as always working with Jamie Delaine! Check out her blog post here!

Also, I don't think we've ever had a wedding that ran so perfectly on time. Huge shout out to Erica at White Dahlia Weddings and Events! We had a blast working with you!

joyce + daniel || let's get really really old together

Reasons why we loved this wedding: 1. Joyce and Daniel are wonderful 2. DIY gaLORE! 3. Joyce’s dress was the most unique/awesome dress I’ve seen (that's more why I loved it than Mac…) 4. A rogue budgie came and landed on Daniel’s head during photos 5. The groomsmen caught this budgie and took it home as a pet 6. The ceremony was at Highlands United Church in North Vancouver – where Maclean and I got married! 7. The cupcakes were amazing

But what we loved MOST about this wedding were Joyce and Daniel’s vows. Come on now. So sweet. So genuine. So personal. This is a MUST watch!!!

Joyce and Daniel we are sad your day is over because we would love to do it all over again. Congratulations – you two are brilliant!

vivian + preston || lucky

Vivian and Preston put a lot on the line when they planned their wedding. Technically they weren’t even engaged... While Mac and I have done our fair share of Chinese weddings, we learn something new almost every time! Lesson of the day from Vivian and Preston’s wedding was that there are only certain ‘lucky days’ that people can get engaged/married on (depending on their families ‘lucky numbers’). And sometimes the ‘lucky day’ to get engaged and the ‘lucky day’ to get married can be the same day! This was the case for Vivian and Preston. SO - prior to the ceremony, Preston gave a speech to Vivian’s parents in front of a large group of family asking for her hand in marriage. And her dad said yes! Fewf. What a risky move!

The ceremony was held on a rooftop garden (well, a 6th floor garden) of a condo high rise in Burnaby. This was one of the most unique ceremony locations we’ve ever shot at - it was the most perfect mix of a busy, urban city and a garden escape. Best of both worlds! I love both of those worlds. Sometimes it’s hard to choose. Vivian and Preston were very smart and didn’t have to!

They also included another of my favorite things in their wedding festivities – a group dance! This wedding was a good time. Vivian and Preston are a good time. Too many good times.

Congratulations!
