Shanon + Mike || Straight From... The Heart

Shanon and Mike have an amazing story. 15 years old and barely in high school, they fell for each other. From N64 hangouts to travelling through Europe, they've done it all together. 11 years later to the day they were married. Not a bad anniversary eh? To me this film is a glimpse into Shanon and Mike as individuals and as a couple. We always stress the importance of audio in storytelling, and this film is a great example. We learn so much about these two through what they say during their gift opening and their speeches to each other - like how Mike is obsessed with hockey, how he grew in his opinion of marriage, and also how Shanon knew she wanted to marry Mike after their trip through Europe. We feel that wedding films can show so much more than just two people getting married, and we feel this film does that. We really obsessed over this edit and made sure it told the perfect story of this wonderful couple. We really hope you enjoy it.

Alicia + Kjartan || Call My Arms Home

Alicia and I go waaaay back. We're talking all the way to middle school and high school. We weren't in the same class, but over all these years we've kept in touch with each other here and there through friends and on Facebook. A little over a year ago Alicia contacted us to let us know that her and Kjartan had gotten engaged and that they wanted us to create their wedding film. We were beyond excited and flattered as we were one of the very first things they had on their planning to-do list. We placed a big star on our calendar for their wedding date and we were eagerly anticipating the day.

Unfortunately due to some unforeseen circumstances, Alicia and Kjartan needed to change their wedding date to the day following the day they had originally booked and it turned out we weren't available (WORST!). BUT, Alicia and I were determined to find a solution to still be able to create the wedding film so we decided to give my good pal Andrew of Clear Horizon Productions a call (Andrew actually filmed Erin and I's wedding video way back). We were so happy to hear that he was available to film the wedding on our behalf and that we'd still be able to edit the film.

Editing footage that we had no part in capturing was a very new/strange experience for us. It was really eye opening to view the wedding through another shooters eyes and we learned a lot. As we began editing it became instantly clear to us that this filmed needed to be centred around Alicia and Kjartan's vows. They were so moving and said so much about themselves and their story. Check out their film below to see for yourself…

joey + douglas || dreams come true

Usually when we meet couples, you can tell they love each other (obviously). They have all these cute couple idiosyncrasies and tend to poke fun at each other (Maclean and I are definitely included in this category just FYI – we’re VERY cute – just kidding – we make fun of each other…) But Joey and Douglas were completely different. They were like fairy tale in love – they held hands/arms around each other the entire meeting and were always looking at each other - it was SO cute! These are two of the sweetest most genuine people I’ve met.

They both live in Hong Kong but Douglas was raised in BC and spent a long time working at Brockhouse – which just happens to be where they got married! Coincidence? Not even slightly. Douglas dreamed to one day get married at Brockhouse with the beautiful BC sunset over the ocean. And did his dream ever come true – it was (one of the few) amazing, perfect Vancouver days with no clouds, no rain and a perfect sunset.

I’ve always wanted to film a wedding at Brockhouse as my parents were married there 28 years ago. I can see why they chose it then and why Joey and Douglas chose it now. This day was gorgeous and so much fun. Congratulations Joey and Douglas!

marisa + anson || speechless

Dr. and Mrs. (almost Dr.) got married on a beautiful day at Swan-E-Set. Such a sunny day. Not a cloud in the sky. One of the most beautiful days in BC history! Also - the hottest. day. ever. Marisa and Anson were one of the lucky few couples to get one of those sunny Vancouver days that make the 10 months of rain all worth it. But an extreme version. Man oh MAN it was hot! Keep that in mind as you watch Anson play some of the most funny, creative, yet physically demanding Chinese door games I’ve ever seen. This man was a champion. He fought HARD to be able to see his bride! And it was all worth it. Marisa looked amazing.

These two just make sense together. They’re clearly in love, super sweet, and really funny. ( this discovered when we received their questionnaire back and they included ‘gregorian chants’ in their ‘favorite music’ category haha!)

Congratulations Marisa and Anson!
