Cammy + Corban

I've known Corban and his family for practically my whole life. We met all the way back when we were but wee little lads in elementary school. We basically grew up together playing on sports teams, worship bands, concert bands, and so forth. Our families have always been close so even after high school I was still able to see him from time to time and discuss music which was our usual topic of choice. Erin even worked as a lifeguard with Corban and ALL of his siblings, Rebecca, Caroline, and Davis over the course of 5 summers. Needless to say, Erin and I LOVE this family so when we heard that Corban was engaged and that they wanted us to film the wedding, we flipped! Earlier this year, Corban's mother Cyndi invited us over to meet Corban's incredible bride-to-be, Cammy. She immediately dove into the story of how they met and fell in love, and Erin and I both knew that this story HAD to play a big part in their film.

The wedding day was incredibly beautiful. Cammy and Corban enjoyed their day with their closest friends and family. They had some beer, ate some gourmet pizza (A-mazing!) and celebrated life. We were so struck by not only the beautiful union of this amazing couple, but of these two families. Upon hearing the best man's speech, we knew it would be the perfect fit for the film. Check it out below. We hope you enjoy it!

Congrats Corban and Cammy! We feel so blessed to have been a part of your day and we can't wait to see what you two do together!

Miranda + Fletcher

She’s from Vancouver. He’s from Yellowknife. They met in Calgary. They got married in Vancouver. She moved to Yellowknife. You follow? This couple is SO cute together and Mac and I were so excited to be able to film their big day!

Miranda and Fletcher got married at Saar Bank Farm in Abbotsford BC. Miranda had always dreamed of getting married in a barn, and her wish was to come true in the beautiful one she had chosen - she was so excited! But wait. Only a few weeks before her big day, the barn failed a fire inspection and was shut down!

Recap – lifelong dream; shut DOWN; few weeks notice. Got it?

Can I just say I have never seen a bride, or ANY person deal with something like this so well? She was disappointed for sure, but did not let it ruin her day. Miranda and Fletcher ended up holding their wedding reception in a tent on the property near the barn BUT it was probably even more beautiful. (the nighttime shots of the tent in this film are some of my favorite shots maybe ever)

This wedding was gorgeous and the attention to detail was incredible. It was also definitely planned with the guests in mind. After the ceremony, the guests had drinks (including beer made by the groom himself) and a barbeque, and played bocce while the bridal party went for photos.

Mac and I had a ton-o-fun at this wedding. Miranda and Fletcher – you’re a beautiful couple and we wish you both the very best! And if ever we’re in Yellowknife visiting my cousins, we may just give you a call, or chances are run into you in that massive town :) Congratulations!

Also a huge shout out to Danya Stapleton! We had a BLAST working with her! Check out her beautiful photos of the wedding day here!

Shanon + Mike || Straight From... The Heart

Shanon and Mike have an amazing story. 15 years old and barely in high school, they fell for each other. From N64 hangouts to travelling through Europe, they've done it all together. 11 years later to the day they were married. Not a bad anniversary eh? To me this film is a glimpse into Shanon and Mike as individuals and as a couple. We always stress the importance of audio in storytelling, and this film is a great example. We learn so much about these two through what they say during their gift opening and their speeches to each other - like how Mike is obsessed with hockey, how he grew in his opinion of marriage, and also how Shanon knew she wanted to marry Mike after their trip through Europe. We feel that wedding films can show so much more than just two people getting married, and we feel this film does that. We really obsessed over this edit and made sure it told the perfect story of this wonderful couple. We really hope you enjoy it.

PS... Huge shout out to Chris Plus Lynn Photography who we had a blast working with! Also a huge thanks to Lori Fraser who we always love to work with and who kept the day running oh so smoothly. Wedding Design Studio did an incredible job as always on the decor, design, and flowers. Kim and her team are the best!

Alicia + Kjartan || Call My Arms Home

Alicia and I go waaaay back. We're talking all the way to middle school and high school. We weren't in the same class, but over all these years we've kept in touch with each other here and there through friends and on Facebook. A little over a year ago Alicia contacted us to let us know that her and Kjartan had gotten engaged and that they wanted us to create their wedding film. We were beyond excited and flattered as we were one of the very first things they had on their planning to-do list. We placed a big star on our calendar for their wedding date and we were eagerly anticipating the day.

Unfortunately due to some unforeseen circumstances, Alicia and Kjartan needed to change their wedding date to the day following the day they had originally booked and it turned out we weren't available (WORST!). BUT, Alicia and I were determined to find a solution to still be able to create the wedding film so we decided to give my good pal Andrew of Clear Horizon Productions a call (Andrew actually filmed Erin and I's wedding video way back). We were so happy to hear that he was available to film the wedding on our behalf and that we'd still be able to edit the film.

Editing footage that we had no part in capturing was a very new/strange experience for us. It was really eye opening to view the wedding through another shooters eyes and we learned a lot. As we began editing it became instantly clear to us that this filmed needed to be centred around Alicia and Kjartan's vows. They were so moving and said so much about themselves and their story. Check out their film below to see for yourself…
